What we do
C-Bus repairs, programming and support, by people who actually know it.
From a dead switch through to taking over a system no one else will touch, we handle the C-Bus end to end. Licensed for the wiring, specialists on the bus, and we fix what's there before anyone talks about replacing it.
The service, in full
Most jobs start with a diagnostic. Take it as far as makes sense, we'll tell you straight where the value is and what can wait.
Fault-finding & repair
Dead keypads and switches, a room that won't respond, failed power supplies, flaky dimmers and relays, address conflicts after something was added. We get on the bus with C-Bus Toolkit, isolate the unit that's actually at fault and repair or replace just that, not the whole system.
Rebuild lost programming
No project file and no installer is the call we get most. C-Bus keeps its programming in the network units, so we scan the live bus, read the configuration back and reconstruct the project from scratch, then restore scenes, labels and schedules and hand you the file.
Programming & reprogramming
New scenes, corrected schedules, relabelled keypads, and untangling what broke after a renovation or a new addition wired in by a general electrician. Back the way it was, or set up afresh, programmed properly and documented.
Takeover & ongoing support
Become your standing C-Bus contact. We document what you have, rebuild the project file, and stay on call for faults, scene changes, schedule tweaks and extensions as the house changes, so you are never again stranded looking for someone who will touch it.
Touchscreen & interface swaps
Replace a dead wall touchscreen or a failed PC interface, or move that control onto your existing keypads. One unit failing should never cost you the whole system, and we get you back in control without a re-wire.
Upgrades & clean handover
Tidy a system that's grown over the years, document what you actually have, and leave you the project file and a record of every change. So the next owner, or the next tradesperson, isn't stuck the way you were.
The faults we see most
The same handful of problems turns up again and again on C-Bus. These are the ones we diagnose first.
Failed power supply
A tired or dead C-Bus power supply takes down a whole branch of the network at once, so a heap of switches stop responding together. It looks catastrophic and is usually a single-unit fix.
Blank or dead touchscreen
The wall touchscreen goes black and it feels like the house has lost its brain. It hasn't, the screen is one control unit and the system underneath is fine. Repair it, replace it, or move that control onto your keypads.
Scenes broken after a reno
New switches added by the builder's electrician, wrong lights responding, scenes doing nothing. The wiring is usually fine, it's the programming and addressing that need sorting on the bus.
Dead PC interface (PCI/CNI)
The interface that lets the C-Bus software talk to the system fails, so you can no longer program or pull the project off the units. We replace the interface and re-establish the link, then read your configuration back and carry on.
How a job runs
You don't need to understand C-Bus to get it fixed. We keep a clear record at every step and hand it to you at the end.
We diagnose
Remotely where we can, on-site where we must. We get on the bus, read what's actually there, and pin down the real cause, dead unit, lost programming, address clash or a failing supply, before quoting.
We fix & reprogram
Repair or replace the faulty unit, rebuild and restore the programming, sort the scenes and schedules. We can also handle upgrades and extensions, and stay on as your ongoing C-Bus contact afterwards.
We hand it over clean
You get the working system back, the project file, and a record of every change, so you're never stranded by a missing installer again. We can stay on call for tweaks as the house changes.
Who we help
Inherited-home owners
You bought a house with C-Bus, no manual, no installer, and you can't change a thing. We document it, rebuild the programming and give you back control.
Post-renovation homeowners
The reno added switches and now scenes are broken or the wrong lights respond. We untangle the programming and addressing the builder's sparky couldn't.
Owners without a contact
The system works, but the installer is long gone and no one will take it on. You want a specialist on call for the next fault, scene change or extension. We become that contact.
Commercial, strata & building managers
Common-area lighting or schedules misbehaving and nobody will touch the C-Bus. We diagnose, repair and document it, and can keep it maintained.
Independent, licensed, and specialist
We're not Schneider, not Clipsal, and not "factory authorised". We're independent specialists: licensed electricians under the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW), working to AS/NZS 3000, who also live and breathe Clipsal C-Bus, Toolkit and PICED, dimmers, relays, power supplies and network interfaces. C-Bus Help is backed by Alien IT Solutions, 15+ years across IT, networks and automation. If down the track you genuinely want modern app control instead of C-Bus, that's a separate, carefully scoped conversation for our sister service Smart Home Fix, never something we bolt onto a repair.
Questions people ask
Can you fix C-Bus if I've lost the original installer files?
In most cases, yes. C-Bus stores its programming in the network units themselves, so we scan the live bus with C-Bus Toolkit, read the configuration back and rebuild the project file even with no original files, then restore your scenes and labels.
Do I have to replace the whole C-Bus system?
Almost never. We repair and reprogram first, and replace single failed units such as a keypad, power supply or touchscreen on their own. Full replacement is a last resort, not a starting point.
Can you work on C-Bus remotely?
Often, yes. Programming and configuration changes can frequently be done remotely through the network interface. Physical faults such as a dead screen, a failed power supply or a faulty relay need an on-site visit, which we do across Sydney and NSW.
Are you authorised by Clipsal or Schneider Electric?
No. We are independent specialists, licensed electricians who specialise in C-Bus. We're not affiliated with Schneider Electric or Clipsal; we work with their systems but don't represent them.
Can you become our ongoing C-Bus support contact?
Yes. Once we've documented your system and rebuilt the project file, we can stay on as your standing C-Bus contact, handling faults, scene changes, schedule tweaks and extensions as the house changes, so you always have a specialist who will service it. If you ever want modern app control as well, that's a separate, carefully scoped conversation for our sister service Smart Home Fix.
Tell us what your C-Bus is doing.
Describe the fault and send a couple of photos. We'll tell you whether it's a remote fix or a visit, and roughly what it'll take. No obligation, no jargon.
