C‑Bus Help

Independent Clipsal C-Bus specialists · Sydney & NSW

C-Bus playing up? We fix it and modernise it, instead of ripping it out.

Dead switches, scenes that stopped working after a reno, a blank touchscreen, no installer and no files. We are licensed electricians who actually specialise in Clipsal C-Bus. We diagnose it, repair it, rebuild the programming, and bridge it to your phone if you want. Remote where we can, on-site across Sydney and NSW.

Independent specialists, not affiliated with Schneider Electric or Clipsal. Fully licensed for the mains-side work, deep on the C-Bus side. In most cases we recover your system even with no original files.

Sound familiar?

C-Bus is a great system when it works. The trouble starts when the installer disappears and nobody local will touch it. These are the calls we take every week.

! A switch or whole room died

One keypad stops responding, or half the house won't switch, often a failed power supply, a flat-lined unit or an address conflict after something was added. A general sparky shrugs; we trace it on the bus.

! Scenes broke after a renovation

The builder's electrician added switches and now the wrong lights respond, or your "Evening" and "Away" scenes do nothing. The wiring is fine, the programming needs sorting.

! No installer, no files, no manual

You inherited the home, the original integrator is long gone, and nothing is documented. You can't change a thing and you're told it all has to be replaced. It almost never does.

! A dead touchscreen or PC interface

The wall touchscreen went blank, or the PC interface that talks to the system failed, so you've lost control of everything it ran. That's one unit, not the whole system.

What we actually do

We are licensed electricians who specialise in Clipsal C-Bus, not a general trade having a go. Right tools, right qualifications, and we protect the system you already paid for.

Fault-finding & repair

Dead keypads, unresponsive switches, failed power supplies, flaky dimmers and relays, address conflicts. We get on the network with C-Bus Toolkit, find the unit that's actually at fault, and fix or replace just that.

Rebuild lost programming

No original project file? In most cases it doesn't matter. C-Bus stores its programming in the units themselves, so we scan the live bus, read it back and reconstruct the project, then restore your scenes and labels.

Programming & reprogramming

New scenes, fixed schedules, relabelled keypads, sorting out what broke after a reno or a new addition. Whether you want it back the way it was or set up afresh, we program it properly.

App & voice control

Bring an ageing C-Bus into this decade. We bridge it to Home Assistant for phone control, schedules and Alexa or Google, no full re-wire, your existing keypads keep working alongside it.

Touchscreen & interface swaps

Replace a dead wall touchscreen or a failed PC interface, or move control off it entirely to keypads and your phone. You don't lose the system because one screen gave up.

Upgrades & clean handover

Tidy a system that's grown messy, document what you've actually got, and hand you the project file and a record of every change, so the next person isn't stuck the way you were.

Fix and modernise, don't rip and replace

The quote to gut a working C-Bus and re-wire a house runs into many thousands and weeks of mess. Most of the time, you don't need it. Repair what's failed, reprogram what broke, and optionally bridge it to your phone.

If you want the system to feel modern as well as work, our sibling site Smart Home Fix handles broader smart-home and Home Assistant rescues, and we work together so the C-Bus side and the app side land as one tidy setup.

Illustrative. A repair and reprogram is usually a fraction of a full replacement. We quote after a diagnostic, not before.

How it works

Tell us what's happening

Describe the fault, the brand on your keypads (Clipsal C-Bus), and roughly how old the system is. A photo of your keypads and switchboard helps. We'll tell you straight whether it's a remote fix or a site visit.

We diagnose on the bus

We get on the C-Bus network with Toolkit, read what's there and find the real cause, dead unit, lost programming, address clash or a tired power supply. Many config and programming jobs we can do remotely.

We fix it and hand it over

Repair or replace the faulty unit, rebuild and restore the programming, and optionally bridge it to your phone. You get the project file and a clear record, so you're never stranded again.

Licensed for the wiring, specialists on the bus

C-Bus has two sides. The control network is extra-low voltage, but the dimmers, relays and power supplies it drives sit on mains, so the job needs a licensed electrician under the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW) and is done to AS/NZS 3000, the Wiring Rules. We are licensed for that, and specialists on the C-Bus side: Toolkit, C-Gate and legacy PICED, dimmers, relays, PSUs and network interfaces. That combination is rare, which is exactly why most electricians "don't touch C-Bus". Want the broader smart-home picture too? Our sibling Smart Home Fix covers Home Assistant and whole-of-home rescues.

Questions people ask

I've lost the original files and can't find my installer. Can you still fix it?

Yes, in most cases. C-Bus keeps its programming in the network units, so we scan the live bus with C-Bus Toolkit, read the configuration back and rebuild the project file from scratch. Once we've got that, we can restore scenes, relabel keypads and pick up where the original installer left off.

Do I have to rip the whole system out?

Almost never. Repair and reprogramming come first, and a single failed unit (a keypad, a power supply, a touchscreen) is replaced on its own. Full replacement is a last resort, not a starting point, and we'll tell you honestly if a system is genuinely beyond economic repair.

Can you do it remotely?

Often, yes. Programming and configuration changes can frequently be done remotely through the network interface. Physical faults, a dead screen, a failed power supply, a faulty relay, need an on-site visit, which we do across Sydney and NSW.

Are you Clipsal or Schneider authorised?

No, and we're upfront about that. We're independent specialists, licensed electricians who happen to know C-Bus inside out. We're not affiliated with Schneider Electric or Clipsal, we just work with their systems day in, day out.

Can I get app and voice control on my old C-Bus?

Yes. We bridge C-Bus to Home Assistant through the network interface, which gives you phone control, schedules and Alexa or Google, with no full re-wire. Your existing keypads keep working alongside it, so nobody in the house has to relearn the light switches.

Tell us what's broken. We'll tell you straight.

A quick description and a couple of photos is enough to start. We'll say whether it's a remote fix or a visit, and what it's likely to take. No jargon, no pressure.
